Britton Outdoors runs guided hikes to numerous locations throughout Munster. We have some stunning day hikes suitable for all levels in the Galtees, Commeraghs, Knockmeldowns and the Reeks. To date, we have run a number of sunrise, sunset and day hikes which have all been a roaring success. Carrauntohil - Guided Hike

Carrauntoohil via O Shea's Gully.
Join us on a challenging hike to the highest point in Ireland. It is a fully guided hike with two very experienced guides. Small groups sizes guaranteed. The route will leave Cronins yard and head up to the Lakes before swinging right and climbing O Shea's gully to top out near the summit of Carrauntohil. The route down will be through heavenly gates or the zig zag's and back to the lakes before joining the path back to Cronin's yard.

Cappagh Glen - Twin Glen - Guided Hike

Guided hike to the Twin Glens or Cappagh Glen in Kerry.
This is a beautiful hike in the wilds of Kerry. The walk will lead you along a river and up to Lough Nabroda. From here you will skirt around the lake and continue onwards to Crohane Lake and event to the summit of Bennaunmore.

    Here are some frequent questions & answers

    • Do you run hikes for private groups?

      Yes, we can organise and run hikes for private groups. Please get in touch with us and we can discuss what your needs are and develop a suitable hike.

    • Is there an age limit on the guided hikes?

      There is no upper age limit. For anyone under the age of 18 they should be accompanied by a parent/guardian. We don’t usually take anyone under the age of 14 in a group however please get in touch and we can arrange a group/family day to suit your needs.

    • What happens if the weather is very bad on the day of the hike/course?

      The participant’s safety is our utmost concern. If the weather is deemed unsafe to go out the day will be cancelled. We will do our utmost to run the day/course so we will look at alternative routes and other options prior to cancellation. If we need to postpone the day you can book into the next hike/course that suits your calendar and we will transfer your booking.

    • None of the dates on offer suit, do you have any other options?

      Please get in touch with us. We will do our utmost to arrange dates that will work for you and your group.

    • Can I bring my dog on the hike?

      No, unfortunately, we cannot take any pets on our hikes.

    • What gear should I bring with me?
      • Rucksack (30-40 litre)

        Walking trousers (no jeans or cotton)
