About The Events

Mountain Skills training is divided into three blocks, MS1, MS2 and MS Assessment.

MS1 and MS2 are the basic training blocks covering all aspects of hillwalking that the candidate will require to become a self-sufficient hill user. This course provides a general introduction to hillwalking in Ireland and the basics of mountain navigation. It offers a solid foundation for gaining personal mountaineering proficiency.

This course is focused on teaching the necessary skills in mountain safety, navigation techniques, knowledge of hazards, and personal equipment so that when you have completed the course, you will be in a position to safely, and competently, take to the hills.

The course will be run by a fully qualified Mountain Leader who is registered with Mountaineering Ireland as a trainer. They will be fully certified in first aid suitable for the environment.

The course is run on a max of 1 instructor to 6 people, so there is plenty of one-to-one tuition, and the instructor will ensure that it is a relaxed and enjoyable two days.

The course is accredited by Mountaineering Ireland.
